BTS: Red Boy Commercial Shoot
- - - -
Bullyboy has always been about pushing boundaries in South African streetwear and skate culture. For our latest video commercial we took the energy of our community and turned it into something raw and unforgettable. The centerpiece of the shoot is the Red Boy, a character fully painted in red to symbolize the iconic Bullyboy demon emoji 👹 that has become part of our identity.
Shot at night with harsh lighting, the visuals capture a mix of punk attitude and grungy street energy. This behind the scenes moment gives you a taste of what is to come in our upcoming campaign.

The Red Boy Concept
The Red Boy character was created to embody the chaos, rebellion, and authenticity that runs through Bullyboy. He is not polished, he is not perfect, and that is exactly the point. Streetwear in South Africa is not about chasing trends from overseas but about creating something raw that feels like it comes directly from the streets of Cape Town and Johannesburg.
Painting the subject entirely in red gave the shoot a surreal, almost unhinged energy. Paired with leather, baggy jeans, and skate inspired styling, the Red Boy feels like a living version of the emoji that has followed Bullyboy since the start.

The shoot was done at night to keep the atmosphere dark and gritty. Flash photography brought out every detail, from the paint on the Red Boy’s skin to the heavy textures of the clothing. This rawness is what defines South African streetwear brands that are not afraid to experiment.
Streetwear here is not only about fashion but about identity and resistance. By leaning into punk styling, oversized fits, and rebellious imagery, Bullyboy is showing what it means to represent underground South African street culture.

The Red Boy is a symbol of everything Bullyboy stands for. He is rebellious, unfiltered, and unforgettable. This behind the scenes glimpse captures the spirit of South African streetwear and what makes Bullyboy unique in a crowded industry.
Stay tuned for the full video release and get ready to see the Red Boy come alive.
